Rihanna may have covered up for an impromptu photoshoot outside a mosque in Abu Dhabi but her behaviour was still branded as ‘inapproptiate’ by officials.
The Diamonds star, 25, was covered head to toe when she took glamorous photographs of herself outside the impressive Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque over the weekend. However her poses were seen as
too provocative by staff at the holy building who demanded the star move on.
‘In the event of behaviour that violates the moral codes of access to the mosque, or other visit regulations – such as taking inappropriate pictures, posing in ways that are improper in the context of sacred place, talking loudly, or eating – the violators are directed in a polite manner that reflects the civilisational and tolerant attributes of Islam,’ an official statement from the place of worship says.
‘Here, the Centre refers to a recent incident, involving a singer who came for a private visit to the mosque, at a gate that is not reserved for visitors, without prior coordination with the Centre’s management and without identifying herself,’ the statement continues, making a reference to Rihanna.
Rihanna is in Abu Dhabi for the latest round of her Diamonds world tour – for which she has also covered up on stage in respect to local beliefs.
