A suspected armed robber, Yinka Oyeniran hid a stolen Toyota Camry Car inside a church in Gbongan, Osun State but the Oyo state Police were able to recover it.
Oyeniran who was said to be a member of a car-snatching syndicate, allegedly led three others on September 10, 2013 to a Christian centre around the Kute Wofun area of Ibadan, where the car with plate number Lagos, LSR 292 AT was snatched, the
victim’s phone, jewellery and N120,000 were also taken.
Unfortunately the car had a tracking device and through that the police was able to monitor the car after the victim reported the incident.
The car was later demobilised but Oyeniran was said to have pushed it to a church in Akinlalu junction, Gbongan. He was said to have told the pastor of the church that he brought the vehicle for blessing.
It was learnt that Osun and Oyo states police command laid an ambush for Oyeniran. When he returned to take his loot, he was arrested.
Oyo State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Olabisi Ilobanafo, said an unregistered Honda motorcycle, a Nissan Sunny car with plate number Osun, AP 406 SGB, and a rectum cable wire were also recovered from the suspect.
